Introduction to Palliative & End of Life Care for Registered Nurses

Made possible through the generous donation of funds, we are pleased to offer a limited number of free training places exclusively to care homes located within the following postcode areas: WV4, WV5, DY3, DY6, DY7, DY8, DY9, DY10 and DY11.
This half-day, online session aimed at registered nurses will serve as an introduction to palliative and end of life care, symptom management, ReSPECT and Advance Care Planning.
Learning outcomes
- Define what is Palliative Care and End of Life Care
- Recognise common symptoms and their management
- Increase awareness of identification / prognostication / phases of illness / illness trajectories
- Understand ‘what is a good death’- last weeks to days
- To understand what Advance Care Planning (ACP) is and the benefits
- To describe how the Mental Capacity Act (MCA) relates to ACP

Who should attend:
This session is aimed at Registered Nurses who work in care homes located within the qualifying postcode areas (WV4, WV5, DY3, DY6, DY7, DY8, DY9, DY10 and DY11).
Care Homes outside of these postcode areas should contact us by email to be added to a waiting list. Any remaining unfilled places will be offered to those on the waiting list one week prior to the advertised course date.
