Made possible through the generous donation of funds, we are pleased to offer a limited number of free training places exclusively to care homes located within the following postcode areas: WV4, WV5, DY3, DY6, DY7, DY8, DY9, DY10 and DY11.
This introductory course aims to empower you to have conversations that may require managing emotions and information sensitively. You will be able to adapt your skills to actively listen and respond accordingly to the conversation being had.
Learning outcomes
- Explore the importance of effective communication with patients, families and colleagues
- Recognise how to open and close conversations
- Understand the nature and impact of verbal and non-verbal communication
- Acknowledge common obstacles to effective communication and resulting behaviours
- Identify distress and how to respond appropriately

Who should attend:
This session is aimed at care home staff of all levels who have conversations with patients, residents, service users and carers. Places are open to those that work in care homes located within the qualifying postcode areas (WV4, WV5, DY3, DY6, DY7, DY8, DY9, DY10 and DY11).
Care Homes outside of these postcode areas should contact us by email to be added to a waiting list. Any remaining unfilled places will be offered to those on the waiting list one week prior to the advertised course date.
