Difficult Conversations: an introduction

This introductory course will aim to empower you to have conversations that may require managing emotions and information sensitively. You will be able to adapt your skills to actively listen and respond accordingly to the conversation being had.
What will I learn from this course?

- Recognise how to open and close conversations
- Understand the nature and impact of verbal and non-verbal communication
- Identify skills and appropriate responses to difficult conversations
- Acknowledge common obstacles to effective communication
- Acknowledge common obstacles to effective communication and resulting behaviours
- Identify distress and how to respond appropriately
- Understand key communication models and skills when responding to challenging conversations
- Appreciate professional boundaries when engaging in clinical conversations
