Self-Care & Resilience for Health & Social Care Professionals

Healthcare Professionals are dedicated to caring for others but often at a significant cost to their own well-being. This three‑hour course offers participants the opportunity to explore vicarious trauma, compassion fatigue, and burnout, and to understand how these experiences can influence performance, relationships, and personal health.
By the end of the course, participants will be able to:
- Feel better equipped to care for themselves as skilfully as they care for others, sustaining a healthy and fulfilling purpose in healthcare
- List the reasons why self care is an essential professional responsibility
- Name the signs and symptoms of vicarious trauma, compassion fatigue and burnout
- Identify signs of stress in themselves and others and relate to models of self care and resilience
- List examples of how to prioritise and manage self care
- Define resilience and factors impacting on our ability to manage adversity
- Recognise coping mechanisms and identify areas requiring further attention to maximise resilience
