Self-Care & Resilience for Health & Social Care Professionals
Online via MS Teams7th October 2026
Healthcare Professionals are dedicated to caring for others but often at a significant cost to their own well-being. This three‑hour, online course offers participants the opportunity to explore vicarious trauma, compassion fatigue, and burnout, and to understand how these experiences can influence performance, relationships, and personal health.
By the end of the course, participants will be able to:
- Feel better equipped to care for themselves as skilfully as they care for others, sustaining a healthy and fulfilling purpose in healthcare
- List the reasons why self care is an essential professional responsibility
- Name the signs and symptoms of vicarious trauma, compassion fatigue and burnout
- Identify signs of stress in themselves and others and relate to models of self care and resilience
- List examples of how to prioritise and manage self care
- Define resilience and factors impacting on our ability to manage adversity
- Recognise coping mechanisms and identify areas requiring further attention to maximise resilience
We are pleased to offer fully funded training places for staff working within the NHS Black Country Integrated Care Board (ICB) footprint.
These funded places are available to organisations based within the Black Country ICB area (Wolverhampton, Walsall, Sandwell and Dudley), including:
- NHS Trusts (acute, community and mental health providers)
- Primary Care (GP practices, Primary Care Networks and Federations)
- Social care providers commissioned within the footprint
- Community and voluntary sector organisations with formal links to, or contracts with, the ICB
- Independent providers delivering NHS-commissioned care in the area (including care homes)
Organisations outside of the Black Country ICB area are welcome to attend by booking a paid place.
We reserve the right to verify eligibility for funded places. Where applicants are found to be ineligible, a paid place may be offered as an alternative.
To support fair and equitable access across partner organisations, a maximum number of funded places per organisation may be applied to each session. Once this limit is reached, additional applicants may be placed on a waiting list. Where capacity allows, further places may be released closer to the course date.
