Palliative Care Emergencies and Symptom Management

Course Overview
This half-day workshop will increase awareness of pain and symptom management, recognising and supporting those patients who are nearing the end of life, while also raising your awareness of common palliative care emergencies.
This workshop will focus on:
- What is palliative and end of life care
- Recognising the end of life, providing holistic support to patients and families
- Assessing and managing common symptoms such as pain, constipation, bowel obstruction, fatigue, nausea and vomiting
- Recognising and managing common palliative care emergencies such as Malignant Spinal Cord Compression (MSCC), Hypercalcemia, Major Haemorrhage and Superior Vena Cava Obstruction (SVCO)
